Hiya all- I have been using Qlab 2 very happily for some time.  I have a new sound designer on a very small budget show who tells me that Qlab is no longer free and that I will need to purchase a license for $245 if I want to use it for the show.  It is my understanding that Qlab 2 is still free (and we don't need more than the 2 channels- a very simple show).   She says that it has changed, and that you simply can not get any version of Qlab for free anymore.  Is this true?

For two channels of audio per cue or audio device, QLab is free. You need a Pro Audio license if you need more than two channels. There will always be a free version of QLab.

Additionally, the price for a standard license is $249, but you can rent starting at $3/day.

For a full breakdown of what's free, and what each license unlocks, check out this table:

Your sound designer is incorrect.

QLab 2 still has a free version for audio playback; the primary limitation is that it can only do two channels of audio.

Sounds like the free version will be all you need.

Best,
Chris
