Hello,

I've been using QLab for a few years now since first discovering it at a high school I was doing a lighting design for. Now that I'm tech directing at my old high school, I set them up with QLab since it's a simple enough trigger program for students to run. This show we are currently working on has me very busy so the director went ahead and did the sound design. I told him to save the sound cue files as AIFF since that is what I had the most luck working with on QLab. The problem is several of the cues will not drag and drop onto the QLab cue worksheet. The only difference I see is the size of the files, where some of the problematic cues are 2.5 mb and more. I did set up a sound cue folder on the computer's desktop with all the sound files in it. Can anyone tell me if the size is causing the issue? All of the files are AIFF. Thanks.

I've never encountered an issue with file sizes. Try doing this without the drag & drop approach:

Press Command + 1 to add a new (blank) audio cue.

Highlight the cue and press Command +T (or click the arrow icon in the "Target" column)

From the resulting browser window, select your audio file. See if this allows you to add the audio file to the cue.

Hi Patrick,

Welcome to the list!  The file size won’t be the issue here, it will be some other culprit.  An AIFF should be fine, but it’s conceivable something about the file encoding is preventing QLab from reading it successfully. You could try translating it to a WAV, to see if that helps.  You can also look in the Console.app to see if QLab is writing any messages about errors. (Or you can send the logs to us to inspect from inside QLab by going to “Help” —> “Contact Support…” and checking “Include Console Logs.”)

Best,
Chris
