Hi Amy
There are a few solutions here.
First, to entirely hide the menu bar on screens other than your main screen, open System Preferences (as it’s called on macOS Monterey or older) or System Settings (as it’s called on macOS Ventura or later), go to Mission Control, and un-check the box marked “Displays have separate Spaces.” You’ll need to log out of your Mac and re-log in for this change to take effect.
Second, if you don’t want to do that for any reason (I like having separate Spaces per display, for example) you can also make sure that QLab’s black backdrop stays up in between cues by opening your workspace, going to Workspace Settings > Video, clicking the Edit button for your stage, and checking the box in the upper-right corner labeled “Keep rendering between cues.”
Once you do that, after playing one cue the backdrop will stay up until you press the escape key or quit QLab.
Best
Sam
