I was just replying to someone who asked off list whether this could be done, saying I didn't think you could, when a brainwave struck.

In protools export your  Session Info as text......    ( from Export. on file menu)

Open the audio file in Twisted Wave and import markers.... (From Markers Menu) and select the PT session info file

Save.

It's a bit cumbersome, but it works!

You can convert regions to slices in Triumph and (with a bit of patience) Snapper: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/qlab/PxUuLRnkmnM/u6Nc_opfu-sJ.

I'm trying to get this to work, but the markers aren't showing up in Twisted Wave when importing the session text file. Are there any specific setting withins Pro Tools or Twisted Wave that allow this to work properly?

I am able to set markers in Twisted Wave and they show in QLab which is great. I would love to skip setting markers twice if I can.

Cheers,
Andrew

Are you using PT10 or later?

If so

Thanks for the detailed walkthrough, Mic. And yes I am on PT11. Those are the exact steps I originally did as well, but I tried again just to make sure.  I am currently only demoing Twisted Wave just for this purpose, and I double checked that it is a fully functional demo, which it is. So I might have to get in touch with the developer.

Strange. This will be great when I get it working. Being able to get slices into QLab that easy will be great. It also works really well as a multichannel compiler. I just tried creating a few quad files from mono and it was super simple.

Weird.

I had done my walkthrough in PT10 but have just tried it in PT11 and it works identically.

I have attached the session text file I exported from PT11. If you try importing the markers from that into TwistedWave, that may help you to determine whether your problem is the PT export or the TW import.

I downloaded your session text file and TwistedWave imported the markers just fine. So something is going on with my ProTools session text export that isn't working. I currently don't have PT10 installed, so I will try PT12 and see if that helps.

Thanks for helping me troubleshoot!

I just tested in PT12 and it didn't work either.

I figured it out - the markers in PT need to be set to "Absolute" and not "Bar | Beat". Now everything is transferring well into QLab (via TwistedWave).

Thanks Andrew I tried this a while back and reverted to a workaround - I didnt spot the absolute option great to be able in PT now

would be fantastic to import markers text straight in to a qlab cue!

Hey guys, the absolute option in PT 10 is found inside each marker popup menu, accessed by double-clicking the marker itself.  So you need to change to "absolute" on every marker you need to export, one by one, or when creating new ones.  And then, when you export session info they will be noted in "samples", what twistedwave needs when importing.  Awesome trick to vamp music sections with sample accurate precision.  I am done with trying to find loop points in Qlab directly...happy designer :)
