Hi,

We have been running a comedy show involving audio-visual with sound
for some time on a Mac OS X Version 10.5.8 2 Ghz 2 Duo 3GB 667 Mhz
SDRam running on the original Leopard system, and using QLab 1.3.5.

It has started to stutter during shows, and then closed itself down
last night (fortunately between Qs). We have already put an extra 1
gig Ram in and have bought Snow Leopard after advice.

Is it safe to instal Snow Leopard? Will Q Lab still function ok? We've
been told it all should be quicker and less of a strain, but we've got
some important shows coming up.....?

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer.....

Hi there,

We have not tested QLab 1 past OS 10.5, so I don't know if it is reliable on Snow Leopard. Others on the list may have experience with it, though.

If the show itself did not change before the problems began, has anything else changed? Consider running some diagnostics of the computer to see if anything is showing problems, such as the hard drive or other components.

Best,
Chris

if you're willing to switch to snow leopard --- you should consider upgrading to qlab 2 --- you're looking for stability, that's the best way .. just check your cues a few times before the next show.

Also note that Qlab 3 won't work with anything older than 10.6 so one way
or another you're getting further & further behind sticking with Qlab 1.

At least. Final requirements are in flux. I am legally unable to explain in detail, but minimum requirements for v3 *might* (possibly) be higher than 10.6.

Hmm...  That wouldn't make me the happiest camper.  I've been sticking with 10.6 since Lion dropped Rosetta. The cost to upgrade my personal machine would be quite high, and things like Quicken just won't work.  I doubt it would be a problem with any production machines though...

I'm still on 10.6 myself, and this would not be a decision we'd make lightly. However there are some extremely strong reasons to do it.
