The network port is standard Ethernet and it can be controlled by their app, so maybe they would be willing to make an API available, but it would be a significant undertaking in any case..

i just read through the tech specs on the blackmagic website --- i didn't see any viable control protocols listed for the ATEM .. was kinda expecting to see MIDI ...

there's a USB output that streams the program output through the built-in H.264 encoder and delivers that to a driver-based GUI on a host computer to be saved or streamed .. apparently this usb port will do a software update too. but it doesn't indicate much about external control protocols. likewise the network port seems to be a proprietary control-communication port for talking to other blackmagic design products ?? and doesn't say much of anything about controlling from an external device.

i did see an RS-422 port on the next model which would provide (some of?) the qlab-control you're seeking -- .

hopefully i missed something in my quick reading that would indicate the ability to actually provide the qlab-control-protocol you desire. i've enjoyed browsing the blackmagic design products catalog since i became aware of them .. unfortunately it's mostly SDI-based and my employer is still in the analog video world ...

Your best bet is to emulate key commands and mouse clicks to the ATEM software control panel. You can do this with the script cue and a little AppleScript research. I know it's convoluted but it will get you controlling the ATEM fast.

There is a nicely documented C++ SDK available now, but I agree – AppleScripting the keyboard is the easiest way to get started.
