I cannot recommend any Tascam interfaces. Every one I’ve ever used has had problems with some combination of grounding, clocking, noise, and/or crosstalk.
I’m a bit hesitant to endorse any particular hardware, but generally speaking, we’ve seen the most consistent good results with the Roland Octa-Capture, Focusrite’s Saffire line, or, getting progressively up the price ladder, any of the models from RME or Metric Halo.
We generally have seen a lot of customers have problems with Behringer, M-Audio, Presonus, Tascam, and older MOTU hardware. MOTU has, however, put a lot of effort into fixing problems with some of their drivers and hardware the last couple years, so I’m cautiously optimistic about their most recent products, but I can’t offer any firsthand experience with them.
