I have a ENTTEC ODE MK3 and I love it. In the browser configuration web page (accessed via the IP of the unit) there is an option to choose sACN or Art-Net. If understand correctly QLab only outputs Art-Net. So does this allow me to convert the Art-Net to sACN. Doesn't the ODE just output plan DMX?

Thanks for any more info.

Hi Mark

That setting is to tell the ODE whether to expect incoming Art-net or incoming sACN. In any case, it only outputs DMX.

And a related question (and knowing Figure 53, I'm sure this was a well reasoned decision): why doesn't QLab support sACN?  I'm pretty sure even Wayne Howell (inventor of Art-Net) these days primarily recommends using sACN for lighting level data these days and Art-Net/RDMNet for configuration and management.

When we were first implementing a lighting library, sACN and Art-Net seemed about neck-and-neck in terms of which one would be more prominent, and we picked one. Since then, sACN became more prominent, and we’d like to add it too. This is one of those “there are only so many hours in a day and a long list of things to do” things more than anything else.

Wait I thought AI was supposed to fix/code everything instantly and for free? :-)

Looking forward to seeing the sACN implementation whenever you get to it.
