But it's a great way to make QLab itself fully portable...
Pt
If video lag isn't an issue, does the Qlab output video on the Ipad look
like the video on a regular screen? Lag would be fine for my purpose but
glitchy video would not. My video content is low res & just single colors
so nothing special.
I assuming you an also mirror the main screen with the Ipad in addition to
using it as a second monitor?
Can an Ipad be plugged in with a power adapter or is it recharged via a
USB port?
Is this all done via the peer to peer WIFI capability or does it require
an external WIFI rig?
Thanks in advance,

The image shows artifacts similar to JPEG compression during motion; it sharpens up when things are still. Kind of like VNC. I'll have to try sending video to Air Display, and will do so this afternoon and let you know how it looks.

the iPad appears as a separate display in the Display preferences pane. Presumably you can do everything with it that you can with any other extra monitor.

The iPad includes a power adapter that can be used while the device is in operation. That said, the battery life is every bit as insanely great as the hype would have you believe.

Any LAN connection should work: WiFi from iPad to AirPort Extreme, Ethernet or WiFi from Mac. Since both machines support peer-to-peer, so will Air Display.

On QLab 1, all I get is a black screen. So I guess it isn't supported.
On QLab 2, video and still images appear properly on the iPad. Stills and video show clear signs of compression artifacts, and video is jumpy at best. Doesn't appear to lag, but significant numbers of frames are being skipped to keep in sync. And my test file was a nice, slow Ken Burnsy slideshow video at DV resolution.
So I still say Air Display is ideal for use as a QLab remote, since you can fit the entire app onscreen. And the controls are mostly large enough to be easily usable with chubby fingers like mine.
