Just completed a run of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.  If you're familiar with the script, you know that there is a onstage MP3 Player in the last scene that comes on twice and on the final cue xfades to the house.

I chose a Sony Bluetooth speaker which Qlab recognized as an audio source immediately.  Eleven performances plus dress and tech without a problem.

That is good to know.  We used our fallback for this type of application, RF IEM and what we refer to as 'hockey puck' speaker.

Good to know. I've also done the IEM and battery powered speaker like Ben mentioned.

Is your space fairly small? How far away was the speaker from your computer? I've always been afraid to go this route because of the 30ft Bluetooth distance limit.

Thanks!
Rusty

The speaker box was about 25 feet from the computer.  I was cautious at first but it worked and continued to work for the run.  I had a back-up from an overhead speaker but never had to use it.

I've used showcaller and/or prop phone on an ipod successfully a few times.
Cues through wifi are faster then bluetooth, and reach longer.
Have also used self powered sound exciters from parts-express.com (Dayton GEX 19) as amps, they can turn whatever box/prop you use into a speaker. But parts express just discontinued them as I was about to order a bunch more.
