Hi All

I'm at Ithaca College and we're looking into purchasing plugins to use with our QLab 3 Rigs. We're interested in potentially going with a waves bundle because we can use them with our Yamaha CL Consoles. Have any of you used Waves plugins with QLab 3 and what was your experience? Alternatively does anyone have any other recommendations for plugin bundles to use? Ideally we would like a good reverb, eq, compression (multiband would be nice), and delay.

Thanks
Josh

Hi Josh,

What is it you are trying to achieve? I've been using Waves and Qlab for years now. But never inside Qlab. Just recently I expanded with a 2nd Waves SoundGrid setup with a SoundGrid MGB MADI interface. In this setup I use the MGB for both outputting Qlab audio and processing plugins. But the processing is all done within MultiRack.

To be able to use the plugins on the Yamaha CL you will need an extra Waves Card for the console. Then you can either connect the console to a computer running MultiRack Native (or with the addition of a SoundGrid Server, MultiRack SG).

Personaly I do not prefer to use plugins in Qlab for processing audio.

Hello Josh

I use Waves Gold inside QLab all the time, mainly TrueVerb and the Q eq
plugins. I sometimes use IR-L too, but it's more processor-intensive so
I try to keep it to no more than one or two instances.

One thing to note: QLab does not currently support meters on cue AUs.
Meters do work on output AUs, just not cues. This doesn't alter the
audible functionality, just the visual. Improving this is on our list,
but as usual we cannot promise any specific timeline for any specific
feature implementation.

Cheerio

Joey, We're looking for options with our QLab rig for being able to take advantage of the audio effects functionality in QLab. I know that for my show coming up I have a mic cue I'd like to be able to eq and add verb inside qlab instead of hooking up a console to my system to accomplish the same goal. I know our CL's need extra hardware to run the waves plugins. That part is probably a future implementation.

Sam, good to hear that Waves Gold works well (I personally own Waves Silver + IR1 and would love to use TrueVerb on shows). Thanks for the info on metering, I'll keep that in mind.

Thanks
Josh
