Sorry there was a cut and paste error in my first post

I'm probably not the first person to discover this. I couldn't find anything similar in the archive though so……...

If you have a contour shuttle then you have a hardware fader that can control a selected cues master volume.

In Qlab Create 2 OSC cues with Hotkeys

Increase Master Volume
/cue/selected/level/0/0/+ 1
ctrl-V

Decrease Master Volume
/cue/selected/level/0/0/- 1
shft ctrl-V

In Contour Shuttle Settings…..

Turn Jog Left  Type Key: Control+Option+v
Turn Jog Right  Type Key: Control+v

Enjoy!

You can also use the jog wheel in combination with the 4 buttons underneath to give you control of a further 4 faders.

If you gang your first 8 in pairs then you get control of the master and 4 pairs.

You can arrange for the shuttle wheel to give you a Fast forward control by using  OSC liveRate (this only changes the playback rate temporarily and does not edit the cue).- I am sure there is a good reason why you can't use negative rates but if you could then this would give a full shuttle feature.

I've attached a workspace with these and a few other useful OSC hotkeys to use on selected cues.

I've also attached a screenshot of the setup of the Contour shuttle Pro.

also, Bomes MIDI Translator Pro or midiStroke will enable you convert the messages from any MIDI controller to keystrokes...

Yes, but if you have a continuous encoder MIDI controller that will send relative values( i.e for each up detent of the wheel one identical value and for each down detent a second value)   then you don't need to translate it. You can just use the MIDI output  as a MIDI trigger for the slider increment and  decrement OSC messages.

I have just found an obsolete Native Instruments Kore Controller at the bottom of my cupboard. This has 9 continuous MIDI knobs and 15 MIDI switches. I am just programming this up to control the master and all 48 channels of a selected cue (using pages of 8), as well as MIDI controls.

One other useful programming tip for hardware controllers. If your switches act the same as musical keyboard keys (notes) then you can program the preview selected  function to start and stop with the  one switch, down and up .  Press the button and  the preview of the selected cue plays, release it, it stops.

I won't post the Kore workspace and Controller file here, but if anyone wants it, please shout. I would imagine you could do the same with most MIDI hardware controllers with continuous encoders like Ableton Push or NI Maschine.

i guess you can achieve the same thing with CCs on switches if the controller supports momentary mode?

Can't wait until there is a Live methods level cue for things like this mixed live by an operator that restore to default levels when the file is saved!
