Qlab Ninjas,

Its my understanding that M1 Macs can run iOS apps.  It would be handy for me to run Qlab Remote on a Mac in our setup.  Is this / will this be possible?

Also, I’ve not tried to install iOS apps on an M1 that were not from the Apple App Store.  Anyone have thoughts / experience with any of this?

Cheers,

That could be very interesting indeed. Could someone with an M1 Mac try?

Hello All

QLab Remote was designed for a touch interface, and we have not updated it to run on Apple Silicon-based Macs.

We certainly understand the desire; in the last ten weeks I’ve teched four shows each of which would have dramatically benefitted from something like QLab Remote on the Mac. So, please believe we understand the desire.

While it’s true that it’s just a checkbox in XCode to enable iOS apps to run on Apple Silicon-based Macs, it’s considerably more work to make them run NICELY. iOS has no menu bar, only the simplest mouse support, no windowing, etc.

At this moment, we are focusing the full efforts of our development team elsewhere. I believe and hope that you’ll find the fruits of those efforts to be pleasing!

Best
Sam
