A fellow Qlab user & list member invited me over to his current venue yesterday to lay hands on the organization's brand new X32 console...
Via USB or FW, Qlab is able to access 32 outputs direct into the board.
Via the same USB or FW connection, you can also catch 32 channels of audio (virtual soundcheck, show recording) into a DAW.
There is already an IPAD app that allows for fader control, MUTE, EQ, SENDS, etc...
There is already a PC app that allows for complete control of the console.
Mac app is coming.
6 band parametric EQ on each input / output. (4) stereo Insertable graphic EQs
4 effects processors
Sends on Faders button
Record up to any 2 anythings to a USB thumbdrive (direct outputs, auxes, mixes, ST L/R, etc...)
16 analog XLR outputs
6 analog TRS outputs
8 DCAs
6 or 8 mute group buttons
scrbbile strip labeling & coloring
User define keys that are being used to trigger Qlab GO, NEXT, PREVIOUS, etc...
User define encoders (might be useful for setting levels in Qlab at some point)
There are 3 or 4 banks for the UDK & UDE function so you actually have something like 24 UDK & 12 UDE at your disposal
Looks sorta like a Midas Pro
Everything feels solid
There are a few points on the console that need some firmware updating (to allow for more flexibility in the recall safe menu)
I left thinking a few things (assuming the console doesn't die, catch on fire, ruin a show)...
1. Buy a 32x32 USB / FW audio / midi interface for around $2500 & get the console for free.
2. Yamaha LS9 is dead @ it's price point now
3. Presonus Studio Live mixers are dead (with no flying faders & no midi) at any price
4. Yamaha M7CL is dead if an X48 is released
Now to see if the console can work without issues...
More soon,
