get video codec of file target of video cue via Applescript

In the IO tab of a video cue, it shows some meta info about the file target of the cue, including the video codec. Does anyone know if this parameter is available via AppleScript or OSC?
I have written a script to convert and replace file targets of video cues not using the ProRes codec. (all within the workspace) I can get the video codec via an external program but was wondering if this were possible in AppleScript within QLab?
