Hello all-

Sorry to revisit this question. I see that the video projectors we will be using are SVGA 800 X 600 pixels. So it’s true that if I size all my still images and video to 800 X 600 pixels I will (1) lose no noticeable quality and (2) enjoy minimum demand on the computer processor?

Thanks in advance,

Ron Murphy

PS I foolishly first sent this to support and for that I also apologize.

Yes, Your images will look best sized for the native resolution of your projector and at 800x600 they will make quite modest demands on the computer.

The only reason you might want a higher resolution, particularly with stills is if you want to zoom into the image or pan it on cue.

Not disputing Mic's response, but on my current show I am rendering all images at twice the projector resolution and having QLab scale them down to half size because I seem to get noticeably smoother rendering on small text in the images, and diagonals and curves look smoother overall.

In this case QLab is doing better anti-aliasing than whatever you used to sacks them down outside of QLab, but that is a problem with whatever is doing the scaling. At the end of the day you can't show more pixels than your physical device contains.

Right. In this case they are .png files from InDesign documents. Just noting that sometimes it's worth scaling down specifically to take advantage of QLab's antialiasing.
