Does the video play fine with Quicktime player?
How big is the file?
How much RAM do you have?
Is the video resolution the same as the projector resolution?
Are you using Fullscreen, Custom, or Quartz rendering?
Are other cues loading and/or playing while the video is trying to play?
Have you assigned the proper screen?
Has any other video media been stopped?

There might be more to check, but that's what comes off the top of my head.

Hi Timothy,

In addition to Lucas' questions, if the display configuration changed while QLab was running, it may also help to quit and relaunch it.

I'm currently having zero luck getting any video format to run in Qlab 3, on a mac book pro running OS X 10.9.5.  I can get the files to run on Quicktime 7 (they won't play on the basic Quicktime Player, but they won't run in Q lab, the first frame will load, but the cue/file itself won't show any sign of actually running.
is it possible to download updated codecs for Qlab?

Hi there,

Welcome to the list. A few things to check:

• Double check you’re using the most recent version of QLab (currently 3.1.24)

• What codec does the video use? QLab does not contain any codecs directly, but uses decoding options available from AVFoundation. You can find our list of recommended codecs at the top of this page:  https://figure53.com/docs/qlab/v3/video/video-cues/

Chris

it is indeed the 3.1.24 build, the videos i've tried are a combination of h.264/AAC and Linear PCM/Apple ProRes 422

Hm, that’s puzzling. Do the have files have an audio track, or no audio track?

Audio Track.  They were shot on a phone by students, then converted to .mov files, stuck on a flashdrive, and finally put into the laptop, I'm trying to get my hands on the original files at the moment.

However, I've attempted to run a "regular" mp4 file (downloaded straight from the internet) and it has the same issue, will play through Quicktime 7 (but not quicktime player) and will load the first frame of the video in cue lab, but won't actually play.

How strange! For further troubleshooting I’d like to collect console logs to see if anything odd jumps out there.

Easiest way to do that would be from within QLab, by going to “Help” —> “Contact Support…” and checking the box to include console logs.

Best,
C

I've just sent the report, included show file and video files that aren't working.
