Hi everyone,

First of all: sorry for my english ;-)

I'm not sure if this makes sense but I'm facing a problem with a show and maybe someone can help.
The situation:

Within Qlab a audio track is running (as normal cue).
an external video sequence is triggered by a different department and when it starts I have a stop cue (for the running cue) which I am currently triggering manually.
Because of my bad reaction I am alway a little bit late.

So I was thinking if I could direct the audio of the video signal into qlab and script something like: "If you receive an audio signal at this input then do this and that".
May question here is how to write something like this?

I hope this makes sense..
thank you!

kind regards

Can they send you something more useful than audio, say MSC, OSC, MIDI, MTC or LTC?

You can do audio to MIDI via Plogue Bidule, MAX, etc – or maybe this: http://www.widisoft.com/english/widi-audio-to-midi-au.html.

Oh, and the other way would be a gate or compressor with a sidechain input – but I don't think you could host that successfully in QLab itself…

Hi Rich

No they're sending only audio to me.
The audio to MIDI would work if it would send only one defined note if audio plays (we're running out of MIDI notes)

I'll give the sidechain compressor a try..

You've used all 2,048 MIDI notes? If you are stuck with a convertor that analyses pitch then the note you get at the start of the incoming track will always be the same note… You could also use MidiPipe to filter.

Rather than spend money on more tools, have you asked if they can send anything other than audio? Could you be cued at the same time as them? Or find out what they take as their cue and also take that as yours?
