Hi all,

First post on the forum. No doubt not the last!

Does anyone know of a easy way to loop video infinitely which includes a video fade? Got a 3 minute video that is impossible to graphically loop with the start and end frames to match.

Instead trying to find a way to loop the video with a fade 5 seconds from the end.

Any and all thoughts welcome.

Cheers

Will

Hi Will,

You have to build that sequence yourself in QLab but it's very doable. It can be programmed in different ways.
Here is one example of how to achieve the effect your looking for. I've also attached the picture.

Cue 1: Group cue set to "Start first child and go to next cue"

Cue 2: Video w opacity @ 0%

Cue 3: Fade cue with opacity @ 100%

Cue 4: Copy of your original video w opacity @ 0%

Cue 5: Fade cue to with opacity @ 100%

Cue 6: Start cue to restart the first video.

Cue 7: Fade out the Video Loop (This targets the Group cue with the option "Stop target when done" activated) That way which ever video is playing will be faded out.

Than it's all a question of timings and auto-continue so have a look at what I've set to Auto-Continue and how I've set the post waits.

Hope this helps.

Split, flip, fade

Take the video into your favorite video editor. Cut the video in half somewhere near the middle.

Now take these two blocks and flip their order. Make the beginning block the ending block and the ending block the beginning block. The point at which you first cut the video will now be the first and last frames. A seamless loop!

Now overlap / fade the two blocks however you feel is best (i.e. Your 5 second fade).

Render and you're good to go.

Split, flip, fade

Good idea Drew! I'll keep that in mind.
