to QLab
Hi all

Just bought myself a new MacBook Pro running OSX 10.7.3
Transfered data, programs, iTunes Library and other stuff from a
MacBook OSX 10.6.8 TimeMachine external USB harddrive. [took me a
couple of day's one collect over the years]
Having this done tried all the programs i need and ran into some
strange things.

1- when i tried a (legally bought) locked iTunes song in QLab 2.3.7 i
got the message " can't ply in this app only in iTunes " ??

2- I opend a old Qlab show made mid 2010 with audio and video cues, I
had to repatch audio, video and a single image and everything worked
as expected. BUT when i tried to save this show I got the message
"Can't be saved, you don't have permission. To view or change
permissions, select the item in finder and choose File > get info"
Done this and made all the users read and write nothing changed and
still can't save the QLab file. ??

Any thoughts

Thanks in Advance
Roland

You may want to repair your permissions

Utilities - > Disk Utility -> Select your system disk and click repair permissions

Does the file name end with m4p? Those are older drm iTunes songs. You have to either circumvent the drm (possibly illegal) or burn to a cd via itunes and rip it to use the tracks.

You might not have proper permissions on the folder you're trying to save it to. Check those out. Or even grab a file from elsewhere and see if you can copy it into the project folder.

One evening when I was having an issue not being able to save my Qlab
workspace on one of my macs I went online & saw something about reparing
permissions. Not knowing much about macs at the time & also having a full
dinner break to wait, I told both Macs to repair all permissions on the
whole hard drive & also make them all wide open. All files & folders don't
require any permissions. Something like that. Seemed logical at the time
:(

I don't remember what came next, spinning wheels or a forced reboot but I
basically ruined both OSX installs & stranded myself right before a dress
rehearsal.

Fortunately I had the show saved to my memory stick & I had my own
personal Mac sitting there so I was able to get thru the night. Then I
figured out how to fix the issue. But I was kicking myself for the
evening...

to QLab
Hi Jeremy Lee

1- Had to look it up and indeed it was a M4p file.
got myself TuneClone to unlock it to mp3 and then thru Audicity to
AIFF ;-{
Another strange behavior was that the copied M4p file stopped at 4:32
even after unlocking. Solution was to transfer it direct from macbook
to MacbookPro.

2- Checked al my saved Qlab shows and made a scratch new one with
audio and video and everything is oke. Just that only one file, I can
life with that.

Thanks for shining your lights on this topic

Best Roland
