I recently read an article where someone bought an ethernet switch and was able to connect 5 computers to it to control 5 different video projectors via MIDI through ethernet. How easy is this?

What settings will I need and what Cue from the toolbox will I need? The article said MSC. I'm hoping to make this as easy as possible before I tackle it. Thanks.
Check out ipMIDI, a free utility for doing MIDI over ethernet which is often easier to set up than Apple's built-in version.

Once the computers are talking to each other it's pretty straightforward. QLab responds to MSC messages, so you can use MSC Cues to control the remote computers.
e.g. send a GO message with a Q number that matches a cue number in the remote workspace, and it will play that cue.
Best,
