Scratchy fader?

Tonight, while setting levels for a production of Ragtime, I noticed that when I adjusted a master fader level in several different tracks that the audio broke up or became very scratchy as the fader was adjusted up or down. Both WAV and AIFF tracks were showing this behavior, and it became difficult to set an accurate, reproducible level.

Trying it again at home with nothing hooked up to the computer and hearing the same things. Disconcerting to say the least.

Anyone ever had this problem and is there a fix? Macbook Pro with Yosemite, 3.1.18 build.

Thanks,

Geep

After working on the show file today, I determined that the scratchiness was linked to adding a fade within Qlab. When I edited the tracks in question and replaced them without the internal fade, the problem went away.

Bug? Chris?

Can you send us a bundle with two cues, one that exhibits the problem and one that does not?

Thanks
Sam

I’ll have to re-create the workspace with the problem, Sam, as I deleted the old track and the fades and replaced them.  I can do that, but probably tomorrow, headed to the theater shortly for tonight’s performance, have to reset levels once again.

Thanks

I think it's always done that.If you have an audio cue with a running  integrated  fade envelope and you move a fader the level jumps around between the fader and the envelope level.  audio example attached

For the benefit of all:

Geep has contacted us via sup...@figure53.com and we've confirmed Mic's observations. This is an audible artifact of the way the integrated fade envelope behaves when interacting with live manual adjustments to the master fader in the Device & Levels tab of the inspector. Based on the design of the integrated fade envelope, this is expected behavior.

I got an email from Sam this morning explaining what I was seeing, and now that I know what happens, I can certainly deal with it.  Simple fix, edit the track with the needed fade and move on.

Great support, great team, great program, thanks Sam!!
