Here's an interesting set up made possible by the fact that the new version of Touch OSC can send a control's output to 2 IP addresses simultaneously and can communicate with QLab over TCP using OSC 1.1 framing.

iPad in Split screen mode Touch OSC buttons on the left. QLab remote in read only mode connected to main computer on right.

Another User asked (offlist) if this would work for random access video cues

In the attached screenshot and screenrecording.

In the centre is the iPad in Split screen mode. On the left are 9 buttons in TouchOSC sending

/cue/1/start
.......
/cue/9/start

to 2 IP addresses simultaneously.

On the right split is QLab remote in active cues mode connected to main computer

Left hand workspace is Main Computer. Right Hand workspace is a screen share to backup computer. In the demo because the main computer is showing a screen share, while simultaneously making a full screen recording. there is 9-12 frames lag between the computers on the screen recording. IRL there  both main and backup are frame accurate.

Mic,

Your demo and test is amazing.  YOU are amazing.  This is exactly what I had hoped would be possible!  Wow!   I've gotten as far as having a working model of iPad Cue Carts firing random video cues on the MacBook and the Cue Cart on the iPad works very well.  I've set up a private 172.16.xxx.xxx Class B network.
I've only had time to watch a couple of tutorials on TouchOSC but I can see right now that you have confirmed it's going to work for what I need and frame accurate too.  Wow...I'm giddy over this!  Really.
I have a feeling it's going to be quite a challenge to get up to speed in the TouchOSC side of things but I'm determined and hope I can pull this off.
The TouchOSC software looks like it is very well laid out and I love the virtual iPad screen next to the workspace - handy.  The ProtoKol bridge is interesting.
I can't thank you enough for the time you put into this demo.  More people should know about this.  This is such an elegant solution to the common problem we all have with good backups for live shows.
Again, thank you so much,

Martin
