I have been trying to get QLC+ to work with QLab as well. I'm working on a theater production so I wanted to trigger a cue list in QLC+ from QLab using MIDI cues. There's no simple way to do this in QLC+ AFAIK so here's the workaround:
1. Type CMD+Space and look for "Audio MIDI Setup". Open the app. On the navigation bar, click the Window tab and click on "Show MIDI Studio". Double click the IAC Driver icon and make sure "Device is online" is checked:

http://i.imgur.com/uVkQnGN.png6. Click on the pencil and paper icon to the right to edit your "Generic MIDI" profile. Select your desired note (on my case, C4). Check the "Generate an extra press/release when toggled".
http://i.imgur.com/l3sHSib.png7. Again, click on the pencil and paper icon to edit the behaviour of your desired note. I changed it from "slider" to "button" as shown. I'm not sure if this step is necessary.
http://i.imgur.com/SAo6XBa.png8. Close the profile window, go to the Functions page on the bottom navigation bar and create a new "Chase" function and a number of "Scenes".
http://i.imgur.com/e195VYG.png9. Add the scenes you've created to your chaser function. Click on the small clock icon and make sure the "Common Hold" parameter is on infinite!
http://i.imgur.com/pH6j36w.png10. On the chaser window, you can change the "Fade In Speed" and "Fade Out Speed" radio button to "Per Step". That's important if you want your cues to fade in and fade out with different durations.
http://i.imgur.com/k6tqesn.png11. Go to the "Virtual Console" on the bottom navigation bar and add a "Cue List".
http://i.imgur.com/IhHDxTZ.png12. Double click your Cue List, and add the chaser function you've created before clicking on the "green tick".
https://i.imgur.com/FR4iWCl.png13. Go to the Next Cue tab, click on "Auto Detect" and fire your MIDI cue ON QLAB. It should recognize your desired note and look something like this.
http://i.imgur.com/jxUkAsU.png14. Cool! Now click on the green Play icon on the top bar (Operate Mode) and fire your MIDI cues on QLab. You should see QLC+ changing changing from one scene to the other on the Cue List you've just created! =)
I hope I have helped you and other people as well! I have not tested this yet in a live theater environment, but I'm confident it will work. I'll be testing it tonight. It took me a while to figure this out! LOL!
PS: Look for the "LX Console" app if you have a Enttec DMX USB Pro or art net interface. It looks much better IMO and is WAY easier to set up with QLab! I could not use it because it is not compatible with my Open DMX USB interface. Let me know if it works!
