Hi Pascal,

We have a couple of TF1s and they have a few little quirks, one of those being it's fixed sample rate.
The easiest and safest thing to do is change your files to 48k when using this desk.

The lack of native midi or OSC control is also a little frustrating - Yamaha have issued a setup guide to help us muddle through:

All the best,

Ivan

QLab will convert the sample rate of any file targeted by a cue to the sample rate of the interface it is patched to.

There may be a marginal advantage, and it’s certainly good practice to standardise all your files to a sample rate. And that would typically be 48KHz.

Some consoles will only run at 96KHz, and it’s debatable if matching your files to this rate is worth the extra file size and data throughput that would entail.

OK !   So how do you convert 44.1k to to 48k ?  Is there any converter ?

Thanks a lot MIcpool

Also, Qlab  sees the yamaha TF1.  But TF1 displays:   USB  sample rate mismatch on USB. Console 48000hz.

Easy done in Audacity or iTunes

Audacity: In the bottom left corner change your sample rate to 48k. Drag and drop your files in individually, then export audio as new file (check this doesn't change with each import).

Hi Ivan !!!

I did convert one file to 48k to try but it is not working.   I dont think it as to do with Qlab. The second you plug the USB (TF1 to Mac) the sample rate error displays.

Try going to Applications>Utilities>Audio Midi Setup this is essentially your controls for most audio interfaces you may connect, esp plug-and-play devices, the TF1 settings may need to be set there
I'm at home now but will check for you in college tomorrow

Ivan is right. Audio MIDI settings will be where to fix your sample rate mismatch. The mismatch applies to the whole of your Mac and is not QLab specific.

What is really annoying though is interfaces which misreport their available sample rates for Core Audio. The TF1 should really only offer 48Khz.
The Digico UB MADI is another offender, which offers 44.1KHz or 48Khz, but is again  actually fixed at 48KHz and sounds like a bag of spanners if the Mac attempts to connect at 44.1Khz

With regard to converting 44.1Khz files to 48Khz. Most of the time you really don't need to bother. The sample rate conversion QLab uses is really good and usually you don't usually need to think about it.

If you are playing something approaching the maximum number of simultaneous audio tracks that your QLab system can handle, then eliminating sample rate conversion may give you a few more before dropped samples.

In terms of ultimate audio quality there is little audible difference in doing a conversion on the fly during playback, or rendering out new 48Khz versions from 44.1Khz files using the usual batch converters. But by all means render a few 48Khz files from 44.1 sources using a couple of different converters, and see if you can hear a difference.

Generally, once your mac and TF1 are talking to each other at the correct sample rate, the actual sample rate of your audio files in QLab  is a pretty minor consideration.
