Hello!

I'm interested in streaming video from raspicam to Qlab camera cues. Has anyone succeeded in this? I first thought it could be achieved easily but after some hours of googling I'm not so sure anymore. Any thoughts?

Toni.

What is the goal of this setting?

I think you have to stream out video from RasPi by using rtsp streaming.
But I don't know a bridge from rtsp stream to QLap. Properly by using Syphon?

The goal being for example to hide the camera (as it is very small) on the set and use the output on projection. Syphon works well with Qlab (at least I don't know better way) but I still haven't found a way to convert the raspberry stream to something that works with Syphon.. (I guess tcpsyphon would have done it, but development seems to be discontinued?)

And at this point I want to say, that I still haven't got any kind of raspberry myself, but am interested if this would be possible.

I’ve succeeded before in using nod scan converter to pick up an rtsp feed from vlc and then turn it into syphon to get it into qlab

Interesting! Can you tell a bit more? You didn't mean ndi scan converted?

Ah yes NDI - auto correct at its best! Yes, VLC can output an RTSP feed into a window. NDI the takes that window and converts to syphon and syphon into qlab. It’s a little convoluted but worked ok.

I have seen references to a Pi being able to send NDI natively which would be much nicer, but I can’t see any examples with a quick google

Okay! Thank you, this is something to get started, meanwhile, I'm open to all ideas!

Nope. Rasperi Pi is ARM based an not supported for NDI, afaik. The only way is to use rtsp stream.

If you are familiar with programming, you can use ffmpeg and pearl or just search for an application.

Probable it's more easy to use normal camera and an streaming box.

I had some success back in 2015 (with RasPi 1s no less), using MotionEyeOS to output a basic RSTP webstream, that I then picked up with IPCam2Syphon and then routed into QLab. It was a little buggy, but generally once it was up and working it continued to work fine. Getting it going each day sometimes took a couple of tries. https://github.com/bakercp/IPCAM2SYPHON - though project looks a little abandoned, so no idea of its stability on more up to date macOS.

We then bought a blackmagic capture interface, so I haven't had to do such bodging since.

Hi !

I made something like this using MJPG Streamer on the Raspberry Pi and Syphon Camera on the Mac.
But like IPCAM2SYPHON, Syphon Camera is no longer developed (binaries are from 2012).

Regards,

Jérémie

I had success recently with SyphonNetCamera
https://github.com/normen/syphon-camera.

The most problematic part was keeping the pi camera connected to the
network via wifi.

Best,
El

Hi all!

Just came to say that I got my raspberry + cam delivered, and so far I've managed to connect! My route is raspicam-> mjpgstreamer-> syphonnetcamera -> Qlab. Works on wlan also but of course better wired. Thanks for all the tips!

Toni
