Hey there!
Is there any way to stream a live video feed from a GoPro Hero camera (4 and over) via Wifi to a specific Camera Patch in Qlab 4 ?

Hello Marc

I'm afraid not. The GoPro wifi video stream is not made available to third party programs, and even if it were it's notoriously flaky and has a very high latency.

The best way I'm aware of to stream live, wireless video into QLab is to use AirBeam on an iOS device, which streams over wifi to AirBeam Pro on the Mac. AirBeam Pro then publishes that video to Syphon, which QLab can use as a Camera cue source.

Best
Sam

GoPro does make a more robust wireless link for Broadcast situations called HeroCast.

https://shop.gopro.com/broadcasting

You could also potentially use a wireless SDI solution, but but you’re introducing quite a few points of failure.

I can confirm for the AirBeam app with iOS device (iPhone in my case) it work well. The show used a GoPro with another software and when I switch everything in Qlab it's was more reliable with less latency and no sound problems because you can mute the phone mic in the AirBeam app witch was not possible on the GoPro.

They do, but quite apart from the cost being so astronomical you need a bespoke quote for it, the £50 a day you need for the RF license makes Airbeam on an ipod a much more attractive proposition for mortal use.

I'm not familiar with Syphon. Can you give me more info on that? Or a tutorial online that you know of?
Thanks!

Maybe you should try a dedicated router with your AirBeam. I use an iPhone SE and an asus dualband Gigabit router.

Works like a charm. 3-6 Frames of lag at 30fps. I think it’s 720p, which is plenty for me.
