As you probably know TBoS has been available online for some time as
person that he found it difficult to read. There is a slight fuzziness which
is wearing. I put these pages up for people to preview the book before buying
and to have a fast online reference.
But I do sympathise. I have just found out that a large part of the trouble is that
the standard 100% magnification actually overzooms the text and makes it fuzzy.
I reduced the magnification to 67% and then chose Full Screen on the browser menu.
The result is that the text page then shrinks to the size it is in the hardcopy (actually
a little larger) and the resolution is fine. In fact I'd say it is actually easier to read than the
hardcopy! I performed this experiment under Edge and Chrome with the same results.
I'm revamping the site over the next weeks and I'll put a note on the index page to TBoS for the optimum settings for extended reading.
