Ok, it seems to be working now? For a while emails (and post from the Google Groups UI) were being rejected.

Google News as an app is not as good as it was.  For example I used to get a lot of stats on views per post and user activity.  Now zip.  

Basically they seem to have amalgamated their email app with the Google app to make Google news similar to Gmail.  But there are

differences in functionality which are lost.
