I've already completed the workflow through OTU picking and I was wondering if it possible to shorten the Sample ID names of my 16s data. I am creating my mapping file and would rather not include the full names. Please let me know if more information is necessary. Thank you in advance.

Hi Morgan,
I think the easiest route for this would be to manually change the sample names in your otu table to be what they want. You'll need to first convert the biom table to tsv, at which point the sample names are the column heads. Then you can use your favorite text editor or the terminal to do this. Of course, whatever you choose, the names in your mapping file would need to match.
