Purchacing 64 bit USEARCH!

Hello,

I'm trying to pick otu and remove chimera using this "pick_otus.py -i seqs.fna -m usearch --word_length 64 --db_filepath gold.fasta -o usearch_qf_results/ --minsize 2".
However, this step has been stopped because of limitation of memory (we are using 32 bit USEARCH). 

MY question is anyone is purchasing license of 64 bit USEARCH and using it in QIIME? if yes, is this purchasing licence permanent? or just one time analysis?

Hi KH,

I'm not sure of the license details for USEARCH, however you can use a free open-source reimplementation called VSEARCH instead, which can be found here:

https://github.com/torognes/vsearch

For it to work with QIIME, you'll need to rename or add a symlink such that the program "usearch" appears to be "vsearch"
