*** Treatments now available at Five Branches University (FBU) clinic

I am very excited to announce that FBU asked me to treat in their San Jose clinic. As a result, I will be there Friday mornings from 9 am - 1 pm, offering one hour energetic treatments, for an introductory rate of $50. Appointments can be made by calling the clinic at 408-260-8868.
What are treatments good for? Headaches, fatigue, brain fog, stress, and insomnia are some common examples. It usually takes several sessions, along with possible lifestyle adjustments, to remedy some of these common ailments.
What is a treatment like? The session starts with a short client intake/interview, and is followed by various means of assessing the client's health. Following assessment, various touch and non touch modalities are applied to purge, stimulate, or regulate the client via the acupuncture points and meridians. The session closes with possible lifestyle change recommendations as well as simple breath and movement exercises to promote health.

*** New approach in reaching out to people

Recently I changed the name "Qigong Alchemy" to "Inner Alchemy Center," which is now reflected on the web site and mailing list. I also redesigned the web site and business model into a healing center rather than an individual operation. This is all in response to seeing and sensing a community working together, and wanting to create a form and structure that would support that kind of growth and expansion.

*** Thailand trip: Medical Qigong and Thai Massage certification in Thailand!

In January of 2009, Five Branches University is putting together a Qigong and Thai Massage certification program to be held at the Tao Garden in Chiang Mai, Thailand! This trip will include lodging and food at the Tao Garden, a beautiful Qigong and Meditation resort, as well as Qigong and Thai Massage certification courses. More details can be found on the web site.

*** Frequently Asked Questions

What is Qigong?

You may remember that Qigong, meaning "energy skill," is the ancient art and science of working with the subtle energies of heaven, earth, and yourself. We are not isolated individuals, but rather parts of a vast network of intelligence ranging from the tiniest subatomic particles to the spiraling galaxies, all flowing together in the most magnificent harmony that has quantum physicists and mystics alike in awe. Qigong is a process of creating and maintaining harmony with our internal universe (physical sensations, physical or mental energy, thoughts, emotions, intentions, actions, etc.) as well as the external universe (the thoughts, emotions, actions of others, the surrounding environment, the seasons, etc.) There is a constant play, interaction, and exchange between the inner universe (microcosm) and the outer universe (macrocosm). Qigong is the art and science of bringing these into balance and harmony.

What are the benefits of Qigong?

A person may experience increased energy, sensation, range of motion, awareness, relaxation, peace and clarity of mind, and reduced pain. Specific Qigong practice may also be prescribed for special health issues, such as headaches, insomnia, high blood pressure, etc. External Qigong treatments also can play a role in creating balance, regaining and maintaining health. On a fundamental level, poor health, mental agitation, and the like are all the result of something being out of balance, while Qigong seeks to create balance and restore harmony. The vast science of Traditional Chinese Medicine arose from thousands of years of practice and experimentation with Qi, giving it an incredible foundation of tested knowledge and wisdom.

Can I attend a Workshop or Day-long retreat more than once?

Absolutely. The benefits of Qigong are vast, but they can be realized only through sincere, consistent, and correct practice. Because Qigong is best learned through repetition and regular contact with a teacher, it is important to remain exposed to instruction, attend regular practice sessions, as well as maintain a daily practice at home. Attending an event more than once provides the opportunity to refine the movements, ask questions, and practice in the collective field of the teacher and other participants, all of which amplifies the benefits.
