Can we see the preliminary matches somewhere? Or get the trace files?
It would be interesting to see them.

You should be able to download a trace of your preliminary matches,
and then view them locally. These aren't available for the random
matches, but, if you challenge another player to a match, both you and
that player will be able to download the trace.

After you log in and choose "View Your Results ...", you should be
able to get to the trace files from the "Match Results" at the top of
the page. It looks like, right now, the text of the trace file is
showing up right in the results page. (Some people have pointed out
that this is going to be a problem as results accumulate) For now,
you may have to cut-and-paste your results into a local file and then
view them with the TracePlayer. I think we'll see if we can do
something different for serving the trace files.

If you download a trace, trace.txt, you should be able to watch it
with:

java icpc.challenge.view.TracePlayer -trace trace.txt

That's assuming you've put coercion.jar in your CLASSPATH.

The easiest way of putting coercion.jar in the classpath, is in that command line:

java -cp coercion.jar icpc.challenge.view.TracePlayer -trace trace.txt

My trace files for yesterday's requested challenges are not showing up.

What David wrote works. I had a few challenge matches. After the
match, I was able to copy/paste the trace data into a text file and
run the TracePlayer to view the replay.

One nice feature is the -speed option that allows slow motion replay.
Better than the video replay of an NFL game. :-)

A suggestion for a future enhancement in the TracePlayer is to allow
the viewer to dynamically change the speed of the replay during the
viewing. From what I can tell, once I set the -speed option that
option is in effect for the entire replay. This means if I'm only
interested in what happens at toward the end of a match, I have to
view the entire first part of the game in slowmo.

A rewind function would also be nice. :-)

Damn, I better start competing or I won't see any of the pro
strategies...

slow-mo is good for analysis but fast-mo are lol funny... use option
"-speed .1"

I hope we will be offered to download tracefiles for finals' matches.
