Dear Artist Friends,
These past few days, I’ve been trying to learn music theory with the help of AI. I don’t play any instrument, so I asked the AI to find me an online app that lets me input a piece of music and play it back. It was a lot of fun.
For a long time, I’ve felt that music and painting are deeply interconnected, but I never had a clear understanding of how these two art forms correspond to each other. It’s definitely a field worth exploring further.
I painted this still life a week ago, and I had a strong sense that the dark areas on the silver are like the bass in the background, while the orange and pear are like the strings in the foreground. The fruit gives me the melody, and the folds in the drapery give me the rhythm. Wow—this was a revelation. I hope someday I can decipher the code of beauty.
Best regards,
Qiang
