The QGIS India User Group held its first monthly community meeting, featuring
updates on QGIS 4.0 release and tutorials on custom map design using OSM vector tiles and layer sorting with Python. Arjun demonstrated how to stream and style OpenStreetMap data in QGIS without downloading it locally, while Sudarshan shared a PyQGIS script for automatically sorting layers alphabetically. Janhavi presented recent events including the QGIS Open Day and International Women's Day celebration, announcing monthly community meetings on the third Friday. Aravinth discussed the translation initiative status, noting that 90-95% of QField strings remain pending translation across 22 Indian languages, and proposed establishing student chapters to help with localization efforts. The conversation ended with suggestions to potentially move future meetings from Fridays to weekdays to improve attendance.
