Since we are a part of MABAS, is there any thought or discussion to creating and then implementing run cards for the dispatchers to use?

This would standardize our responses and the when a MABAS agency calls our dispatchers they would be able to know what is available to send, etc.

I’ve attached a link that is an example of one.

http://www.mabasradio.org/Word_Excel_Files/STRUCTURE_FIRE_CARD.doc

There are several other cards also available – They include – Structure, Brush, Hazmat, Life Safety, Tech Rescue and Water Rescue.

Then, for NON MABAS responses – there is a card for the dispatchers called Interdivisional cards… This tells the dispatcher which engine to send on what…

Here is the link to that http://www.mabasradio.org/Word_Excel_Files/INTERDIV_ENGINE_CARD.doc

So, an example dispatch might sound like this (turn on Jeff Turner radio voice)

QEM Fire Stand By….

<Emergency Station 51 Tones>

For QEM Fire with Engine 4114, Map 1-6 Delta, Report of a car fire, On Belltress Road, appx 1/8 of a mile West of Route 3….<pause> Repeating for QEM Fire with Engine 4114, Map 16 Delta, Report of a car fire, On Belltress Road, appx 1/8 of a mile West of Route 3. Vehicle is reported to be a small compact vehicle, no one around per the caller. Time of tone, 0334, WNPF660

<End dispatch, Jeff Turner radio voice off>

Just a thought, this is how a lot of agencies outside of Jersey County do it and would just offer the thought…

Jeff,
We really haven't discussed the utilazation of run cards. not a bad idea,
would most probably take alot of the guess work out of things. I have
looked at them on the MABAS site. I kinda think they would have to be
adapted/refined more to our needs. Not a bad thought tho'.

Thanks Cap... I understand that MABAS 35 has been asking for them anyway,
so, I'll be working with the Chief to get ours done... It'll be fairly
simple to do.
