Subject: FW: Survey on CPR from
the Mayo Clinic and the University
of Pennsylvania in
partnership with NAEMSP
Subject: Quality CPR and its impact on survival from sudden cardiac arrest.
From: Benjamin Abella, MD, MPhil; Bentley Bobrow, MD; Tyler F. Vadeboncoeur, MD
Dear EMS Colleague,
A fundamental purpose and goal of EMS is to save victims from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).
We are conducting research with this explicit purpose and are asking for your assistance as an EMS professional and a member of the National Association of EMS Physicians® (NAEMSP™).
The American Heart Association has given “effective” chest compressions the highest level treatment recommendation. CPR measurement and feedback devices are a potential means to optimize chest compression quality and thereby improve outcomes. We are evaluating the use of these devices and the barriers to their use. Your response to this survey will help enable the most productive use of this technology to increase survival. All responses will be reported in aggregate and will not be connected with the name of any individual or EMS agency. Our goal is to publish the results of this survey in Prehospital Emergency Care.
Please take three to five minutes to complete this short survey that will provide critical data to direct our collective efforts at increasing SCA survival rates. This survey was submitted for approval to the Mayo Clinic IRB and was determined to be exempt.
In appreciation of your time in completing this survey, a donation will be remitted to the NAEMSP™ Scholarship Fund, to help physicians from developing nations attend the NAEMSP™ annual meeting. A donation in the amount of $25 will be made for each completed survey, to a maximum of $7,000.

Thank you for everything you do to enhance EMS in your community.
