Software freedom day 2013 is approaching. Hopefully I'll be in China on late Sept, so any plan in organizing a new event? I will give an ad-hoc talk on almost anything computer.

I suppose it should be OUC's turn this time -- QDU held the event last time.

You can volunteer to make a speech, share your experience about Free Softwate(or Open Source Software),or to be a volunteer.

But what we should do now is to find a guy or a group. which would like to hold this party....

Hi, 

I'm 孙茂胤(you can call me Simon) from Ocean University of China. We(part from acm/icpc club and part from LUG) got together tonight and exchanged our ideas. After a little discussion, we've decided to hold this activity at all cost, and we are all glad to do this, We will ask our teacher for further information recently, to see what kind of and how big the activity can be. 

The open source philosophy is not very popular in this university nowadays. To the students at school, I think a basic promotion may be necessary. . 

We also prepared some interesting entry-level topics ourselves in case. 

Actually since some passionate seniors have graduated, the remained students don't have any experience on such things, hence we may do something unproperly. Thanking you in advance.

We've got COPU 中国开源软件推进联盟 to cover (at least a part of) the cost. Register the event, and contact Chunyan Li or Kewei Song from COPU.

I'll contact several companies in the Bay Area and ask for some sponsorship.

I'm not in Bay Area. I am currently working at Google LA, and go to Bay Area, specifically Mountain View, frequently (like I'll be there tomorrow for the rest of the week). Hopefully we can meet somewhere in Bay Area.

By the way, any ideas in getting sponsorship from you current employer?
