generate dislocation

Dear Mr Miller and Mr Tadmor
I am trying to generate one edge dislocation for Cu

My aim is to study the dislocation  (Ref part 3 of the paper " Quasicontunuum analysis of derects in solids", Tadmor et al. Philosophical magazine A, 1996).

My question  is : how can you generate FEM mesh to create an edge dislocation ?
