Hi everyone,
Could someone please explain the differences between covU (red circled in the attachment) and the numbers under M1 (green circled)? - referring to the sufficient solution output.

Are the numbers under M1 are the unique coverage of each sufficient path for M1? for example, unique coverage of path 3 in M1 is 0.068. If so, what does 0.001 under covU for path 3 mean?

Thank you
Kind regards
Sarah

Dear Sarah,

See an explanation of (unique) coverage here:

For path 3, the coverage for sufficiency (not the unique coverage) is 0.063.
Its unique coverage (covU, where U stands for "unique") is only 0.001.

This tells me that particular model term is perfectly substitutable with any other in the same coverage area, they all explain (equally well) the same truth table configurations.

Hope this helps,
Adrian

Oh, apologies, I made a typo, writing 0.063 when in fact I meant to write 0.163
But you are right to question this: if you are reporting M1 (and M1 only) then the unique coverage of that path (or model term, aka prime implicant) within that particular model is indeed 0.068

Best,
Adrian
