Software Engineer

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:

* Specify, design, code, and test software for analytical instruments;
* Support design of instrument user interface and develop simulation
tools as required; * Participate in the design and documentation of
software architecture; * Develop software algorithms and data
structures as required; * Work with marketing and the new product
development teams to write instruction manuals and review sales
literature; * Work with multiple new product development project teams
providing software test support; * Work with technical services to
provide customer support; * Work with manufacturing to provide product
support; * Adhere to company code style, revision control,
configuration management, and documentation standards; * Work with
external sub-contract resources, co-ordinate their activities.

Educational Qualifications: (Education, Experience and Competencies):

* Bachelor of Science degree in computer, software, electrical
engineering, or other related science or engineering field. *
Experience with C++, and embedded systems required. * 3 - 5 years C
programming experience for embedded systems and Windows applications.
* Experience in software architecture, software test, and design. *
Experience with HTML and GUI interfaces for embedded systems
preferred. * Familiarity with embedded processor assembly language,
emulation, and simulation. * Conversant in microprocessor hardware and
able to read schematics and component specifications to design and
code hardware drivers. * Knowledge of serial and Ethernet protocols to
communicate between PC’s and embedded systems. * Experienced in
writing test plans, test scenarios, performing regression testing
using automated and manual test processes for embedded software
products. * Microsoft Office experience * Knowledge of source control
systems * Strong work ethic and organizational skills. * Strong
communication skills. * Microsoft .NET, Visual Basic, scripting
language, Windows installer experience desirable. * Practical Process
Improvement (PPI) or equivalent continual improvement process such as
six sigma preferred
