Hello All,

We are a currently running 4 Sun Nuclear DQA3 devices with Atlas.  We would like to get away from Atlas and use QAtrack+ as our primary database for data collection.  Our concern is that eventually Atlas (or dedicated DQA3 software) may stop working and without any support from Sun Nuclear we won't be able to use DQA3 for daily checks.

We are curious as to what other centres are doing who are in the same situation as us.  Ion Chamber readings for outputs would work but we would prefer to use the DQA3 devices as we have been doing for the past 7-8 years.

Best regards,

Hi Robert,

I have been working on a project, QCPump, which might be of interest to you.  It is currently capable of pulling data out of both Atlas databases and Firebird DQA3 databases and uploading it to QATrack+ via the API.  I am just finishing up a few loose ends and adding some more documentation and then it will be ready for people to start testing.  I'll make an announcement on this list when it's ready.

Hi Randy,

Thanks for the replay!  Yes, I believe when and if we go with QATrack+ we will definitely be using your software to transfer data.

Our concern was that if we continue using DQA3 (Atlas) without SunNuclear support it may stop working due to windows updates/etc.  Then we would be left without a device for daily checks.

We wanted to know if anyone else is in our situation where they continue to use DQA3 for daily checks without Sun Nuclear support.

Thanks

Hi Robert,

Just seen your message, I am sure much to SNCs disgust, we haven't run a service contract on our SNC devices for many years finding it more cost effective to just pay for service if required.
Point of note;  we do have three DQA3 devices (one for each linac) so have contingency for the event of one being out of use.
My main experience is finding we don't always have the latest & greatest SNC frontend software.

Hello,

We have been using DailyQA3 with QATrack+ since 2018. We wrote a library to read the data from the Firebird database and store it in QATrack+. It works very well.

I believe at some point, a version bump will move DailyQA3 to SQL from Firebird.  I'm not sure if that's a big deal or not, more of a FYI.

Thanks for the info!  If we go down that route I'll follow up to see how others are transferring data from Sun Nuclear devices/database to QATrack+.

Landon, you're spot on, the most recent version of DailyQA moves to SQL Server (Express). There are some contract issues that might prevent us from upgrading. If we go ahead and upgrade I'll share the workarounds with the community!

It's great to see this new tool, using a QAtrack test to directly query another database was our fragile solution. It's worked well for now but getting something better is always, well better!!!

Thanks for the info about moving to SQL Server.  It should be easy enough to add a new database type to QCPump but I will need a sample database at some point.

Hi Randle,

I heard that the data will be encrypted with the new version of the DQA3 software (that uses the MS SQL server) and that a license (for a fee) will be required to access the data separate from the SNC client.

Wow. If true, that is pretty hostile to users.  RT

Yes we have heard the same regarding a license is needed for the newest version of be DQA3.

We did install a previous version (v3.0.1 I believe) that does not need a license but uses Firebird as the database.  We're currently looking into getting the data exported from Firebird.

Apparently your data isn't actually yours.
