Hello,

Is there a way to make a GUI pop-out from a testlist, and use this to input data into tests?

Many thanks,

Hi Joseph,

While just about anything is possible with enough elbow grease, in this case it won't be easy.  Even if you could launch an external application from within a web-browser (probably using a custom URL scheme), getting it to communicate back to QATrack+ would be another challenge to overcome.  If you have an external application you want to use to enter data into QATrack+, then you'll likely either need to use QATrack+'s API to upload the data, or, have your external program output a file which you can then upload and parse in an upload test.

I think what might be possible would be a setting, either at the user or site level to trigger all new test list submissions to pop out into new windows. Would that be similar to what you're thinking?

Hi there,

Thanks for the suggestion. This wouldn't be ideal since the pop-out window would be identical to the normal testlist input. The reason we thought off a pop-out GUI was to input data in a tabular format (i.e. multiple columns for easy/quick data entry and viewing all the data at the same time).

Thanks anyway!

Joe

That's a much larger idea, I'll add the idea of tabular data formats into the wishlist
