Hello,

Right now, my QuickAccessPopup.exe process uses 790 152 K of memory, as shown by the Windows Task Manager in the column named "Working Set (Memory)". I know that if I do not restart QuickAccessPopup, it will continue to eat memory ...

I am using QuickAccessPopup v9.2.1 on a Lenovo Thinkpad under Windows 7 64 bit professional SP1.

(Since it took me some time to type this message, and I have used the QAP menu in the meantime, the process is now 796 380 K)

Hi Hervé,

Thanks for reporting this. Someone else reported a similar issue some time ago. I can't find this email right now but I remember that the issue was linked in some way to the antivirus/anti-malware protection software.

I'll search more for this.

I found the email from the other user who faced a similar issue a few weeks ago. He said "QAP seems to have collided with malwarehunter program. After removing malwarehunter, memory returned to normal." At that time, it looked like an isolated event. It is not anymore.

@Hervé: If you have a chance to see it this issue could be related to your own protection software?

@All: Anybody else facing this issue?

No, QAP x64 version 9.2.9.9 currently only consumes about 21 MB and sometimes  50MB
and also shrinks to lower values if it was over 50 MB for some time.
So I don't see any QAP memory leak in my environment:
Windows 10 Home x64 October 2018 Update Version 1809 (OS Build 17763.104)
with actual Kaspersky Anti-Virus 19.0.0.1088(c)

I've found a potential memory leak in the background task running every minute (be default). I'm working on fixing it in a beta release before releasing it (soon) for all users.

Thanks,

Jean

Jean,
Do you advise not running QAP til the fix is out?

I advise updating to v9.3 to be released later today.

Until then you could temporarily disable the database ("Settings", "Options", "More" tab, "Quick Access Popup database", uncheck "Enable Quick Access Popup database").

Just updated to v9.3 - looks the same to me but I assume this was to correct the memory leak you'd mentioned.
I wouldn't expect to see a change since I wasn't aware of it.
Merci bien,
Dan

Just to mention that since I udpated to QAP 9.3 the QuickAccessPopup memory usage is very stable, always less than 40M. Merci Jean for your quick fix. Hervé.
