Feature request - Add Dialog box location

Hello,

I am running v9.0.6. I use dual monitor and do a lot of video screen capture on my primary monitor.
I have QAP setup to open on my 2nd monitor (that is to say it is remembering the last location it was open).

When I want to add a favorite and click on the add button , the dialog box opens on the wrong (primary in this case) monitor.

Is there a way to change the behavior so that child windows open in the same location/monitor as the parent QAP window? Or at very least centered with the parent?

Hi Stan,

I am in vacation actually. I cant check it on in computer now and I do not remember well but I would think that QAP also remembers the add/edit dialog box position now. Maybe Horst or someone else on the forum could help you until I am back.

Hi Stan,

I'm back. I check and QAP is remembering the Add/Edit dialog box position from previous session when you reload the app. It is saved in QAP ini file in value "AddEditCopyFavoriteDialogPosition". I do not have a dual-monitor system at this time to check it but a position on the second monitor should be remembered as well. The X position of the second monitor starts after the width of the first monitor. For example, if monitor 1 is 1280x800, monitor 2 top left coordinates would be "1281|1|...".

Welcome back....

FYI - I am using the term parent/child here but not referring to the main QAP window as the parent- so the Parent in my examples is what you see after you click ADD, and the child is any window after that...


I can verify that the value in the INI file is changing when I move the "child" dialog box around (but not the initial parent "Add Favorite Type - Quick Access Popup" dialog) but the ADD dialog box for example still opens on monitor 1 yet QAP is opening on monitor ! as I wanted it to.



On my system (win7 x64 with QAP Portable 9.0.6) Monitor 1 is on the left and monitor 2 on the right (Monitor 2 is the one with the start menu), so 0,0 is monitor 2 and -1920,0 = monitor1's top left pixel

eg of changes when move the child windows:
AddEditCopyFavoriteDialogPosition=-1648|165|576|543
AddEditCopyFavoriteDialogPosition=-1917|247|576|543



Also to be more accurate in my issue, it is these "parent" window titles that are not behaving nor am I seeing any changes in the INI with regard to the parent:

Add Favorite Type - Quick Access Popup
Move Favorite - Quick Access Popup v9.0.6
Options - Quick Access Popup v9.0.6


So for example when in settings screen and you click the ADD button, it is the initial parent "Add Favorite Type - Quick Access Popup" that is open in the wrong monitor, if I then choose a radio button for something to add and click continue, that next child window opens on monitor 2 per the INI. The "Add Favorite Type - Quick Access Popup" seems to always open on monitor 1 at 746, 328 with a size of 428, 383





I don't think it should matter but both monitors are not the same so they don't have exactly the same resolution  1920x1080 vs 1920x1200

Hi Stan,

Thanks you for these detailed explanation. I understand what you want. For now, window position and size it remembered for the "Settings", "Add/Edit Favorite" and "Move favorites" windows (it should also be for "Move favorite" - when moving one favorite - but there is a but I will fix). I took note of your suggestion about the other dialog boxes:
