This may look like an add but it is not. I'm sending you this info because I like the file manager Directory Opus. It is very powerful Windows Explorer alternative yet easy to use (its only shortcoming is that it is not a freeware!). And, because I'm using it, Quick Access Popup is optimized to interact with Directory Opus.

If you are interested, you can buy it at a discount rate of 40% (until January 3rd). And there is a free trial if you want to take a look before buying it. Again, this is not an add and I get no money for this.

I tested Directory Opus some years ago and it was missiung the large amount of viewer and packer plugins that Total Commander has.
Also you have to pay for every major upgrade, while in TC there is never any upgrade fee.
Directory Opus is nevertheless one of the best shareware file managers available
but much to expensive even with the discounts and you don't even have the right for more than one PC
while in TC you can use one license on any PC you own.

Thanks for your feedback. I did not want to start a debate on which file manager is the best. Both are good and Total Commander has the great advantage of being freeware.

QAP support both of TC and DOpus. And it would support more alternative file managers if it was not that time consuming to adapt it for each other third party apps.

Jean and others,

I also use DOPUS and the current special is very good value. The real power is in the professional version. It is also Australian software and alongside QAP is very well supported by the developers.

I also use PhraseExpander to save me time writing reports and administrating and reporting psychological tests. The latest version 5 is about to come out of beta and it is very powerful. Takes time to learn but the results are impressive. The developer is Italian and fixes problems almost in real time and is more than happy to help users use it. Not freeware unfortunately.

I will take this opportunity to wish Jean and the Group a Blessed Christmas and a Peaceful New Year. Consider that a group of international QAP supporter/Testers is doing more for world harmony than our elected politicians. Let us hope for a more peaceful and honest world in the  New Years ahead.

What's so special about DOPUS or TC compared to vanilla Explorer?
Actually I like QDir the best of all with it's multiple window panes to easily move files/dirs around.

Anyhow, I second what Rennie said: "a more peaceful and honest world in the New years ahead" to you all!

I've been checking both out and while the license info for Total Commander is hard to find, I found this on the ordering page ( https://www.ghisler.com/order.htm ) :

Total Commander for Windows is a Shareware (demo version) program. This means that you can test it for a period of 30 days. After testing the program, you must either order the full version, or delete the program from your harddisk.

It is freeware on Android .

Oh! You are right. I was on an old impression that TC was freeware but I was wrong on this. I had my TC licence when I started developing Folders Popup and forgot about it.

Sorry for the wrong info.

TC is Shareware but you buy only once in your life a license.
Mine is from the area of Windows 3.11 and it is still valid for the actual TC version.
There is no other Shareware or File Manager with that.
