Sociopreneur 2012 : Think Different For A Change!

If you were one day given the power to change the world around you, WHERE would YOU start? What would you do? In a country like India where poverty chokes the mass population, where illiteracy blinds its toddlers, where pizza reaches faster than an ambulance or the police, where the common man is deprived of even the very basic necessities of life, would you idle around in the comforts of your home, or would you stand up, speak out and toil for those less fortunate than you?

SOCIOPRENEUR 2012, a social business plan competition hosted by the Entrepreneurship Cell of Govt.Model Engineering College, Kochi, aims at promoting innovative ideas for sustainable social ventures.  Sociopreneur exhorts the youth to raise their voice to guarantee equal opportunities to individuals, and take those visionary initiatives that could make a qualitative difference to millions of lives.

The event takes place in two phases. The participants are required to mail in an abstract of their idea to sociopr...@gmail.com. Six teams will be shortlisted to progress to the finals on March 6th at the Presidency Hotel, Cochin, where they will make a detailed presentation of their b-plan in front of our esteemed panel of judges and a live audience. Audience registrations are also invited to Sociopreneur, with interactive sessions and prizes on offer. Also bundled with Sociopreneur is an online case study competition, hosted by Teach for India, in association with E-CELL MEC. The problem statement or case will be up on the www.ecellmec.org/teach-for-india on the 20th of February, 2012. Entries should be submitted by e-mail to sociopr...@gmail.com on or before the 29th of February, 2012 to stand a chance at earning fellowships at Teach for India and several more exciting prizes.
