The AU will be 10 years old on 9 September, 2012!

Though the AU was officially launched on 9 July, 2002 in Durban, South Africa, symbolic celebration are likely to be made in September 2012--given that the AU celebrates TWO days: 21 September being AU Peace Day; and 9 September being AU day.

Please note that AU Day is distinct from Africa Day on 25 May.

As the AU hits 10 years on 9.9.12, let's think about how we can begin to whip up the African Union fervour!

I think people need to be reminded about how the AU came about in the first place and what it is about, to spear their motivation and zeal. Maybe a remider about different AU meetings/agreements that have taken place in various countries across the continent also?!

The idea is to be planning for 2012 ofcourse, but the earlier we start arranging things the better I think.

I am planning to do an official "launch" of "Q9 Brigade:Africa Unite!" on 9 September, this year. Appropriately, it would be 9.9.11--quite an auspicious date. By that time, the objectives, vision, and whatever TOR that may be associated with the group will be ready, with all t he SM (social media) links of Twitter/FB/ etc...

Africa must unite...or perish. The grand plan by Western powers that know our agenda is still afoot. Eternal vigilance is the key...

At some point, this group will be a closed one to ensure those who join are dedicated and willing to work selflessly for continental unity in smart and practicable ways.

In short, if you can get the dates and meetings by June-ending, that will be great...so that we can do a petition or something or some communication around 11 July -- the DE FACTO date of the launch of the AU.
