Dear Uncle Kwame,

Not even all the oil in Dangote's refinery could get my car to start this morning. I was crestfallen. So I took a ride-hailing cab and heard a story that intrigued me.

The driver explained how someone that looked like Triple Erm, the vigilante we have been hunting for so long, had struck again just a few days ago.

He had picked a taxi on a bad day. But instead of the driver asking him how he was and checking up on whether he needed anything to make his ride comfortable, he was complaining about petrol prices and the government – as if he, Triple Erm, didn't matter.

So he stopped the taxi before his final destination in traffic, got down to the driver's side, then punched him mercilessly – and without warning through the window.

Witnesses say they saw a hooded man that looked like Triple Erm running off with a hand-bleed.

The taxi driver was more shocked than bruised, but it was yet-another reminder how Triple is slowly descending into something more serious than vigilantism.

I’m no longer even sure this is Triple Erm.

There have been many copycats and many aliases. Some say he’s an Ethiopian called Dagnew; others say his surname is Adenuga.

When you've been in this business as long as my negotiator behind has been, you will know how to read the signs of fake news. These are spurious takes of the word “Agenda”.

Uncle, Agenda 2063 keeps popping up. Without fail. Almost every time Triple Erm strikes, I get a message by mail or some other way.

This recent outburst’s message was chilling: “Freedom of movement doesn't mean freedom to disrespect. There can be no Agenda 2063 without an agenda of respect for mankind”.

Am not quite sure what to make of that.

Am sure Auntie would say I should track him down, bring him home for some nice groundnut soup and fufu. That might calm him down! Eish, this my auntie.

Always best to agree!

I'm on a coffee break near the airport; and I've just seen the majestic ET planes preparing to land.

My insider info on the streets tell me Triple Erm is preparing something big – targeting airlines, which countries have a habit of turning down Africans.

Triple Erm’s group congratulated Namibia when it revoked visa reciprocity on certain Western countries, but Triple, also in that statement, said he would take things further. No point of Agenda 2063 if it’s busy pussyfooting around human desire, he might say!

I got my work cut out, Uncle. Another trip to East Africa playing negotiator in the milk wars, while hunting down and cataloguing excesses of contemporary vigilante Triple Erm.

Speak soon,

Mendacity
