Reading from the queue stops process writing to the queue

Hi,

We are using Q4M to that is fed by a trigger and read by a process
that reads the queue continuously.
We have found that if the consuming read process is not running,
writes to the queue are quick. However if the consumer is enabled,
then the writes to the queue takes much longer - resulting the other
application running very slowly.

Has anyone seen this behaviour before?
